I know, I know....believe me, my tongue was firmly implanted in my cheek
when I floated the idea of getting SF's finest out there whacking cars
and SUVs with wet blanket.

P.S. What Cheryl said. The people who do little bad things are more
likely to be the ones to do big bad things. Except for Mike of course.

Unlikely. I approached some cops in a cruiser on Market, sitting at a
light right next to people violating the bus lane. Their reason for
not enforcing the bus lane was "people gotta get where they're
going." They can't relate to people on the buses, only to people in
cars. This also explains why they don't enforce certain other laws,
and also why transit systems have "obvious" design flaws (the
designers often aren't transit users and can't relate).
