I don't want to restart this thread, but I posted to the
carfree list and my message never appeared last week. I think
because my attachment was too big. So, here's a link to a
website where you can download my quick job of notices.

My orig message:

I also am frustrated by sidewalk parking. Sometimes I
tolerate it, sometimes I don't.

I have had fairly good response from DPT when I do call.
Usually within 30-60 minutes. And I usually find tickets
issued. And usually they stop parking on the sidewalk for a
little while. (these are mostly people parking in curb cuts,
often blocking the entire sidewalk)

Honestly, I think for the avg driver, they aren't thinking of
this from a space utilization or pedestrian equity
perspective. They get the ticket, and just think... f- DPT.
And because it impacts their pocket book, the behavior
changes for a little while, and then they 'forget' again.

I liked these stickers that someone made, esp the "Sidewalks
are for people, not cars" and thought they would help people
think about it a little more than just a ticket.
I scanned and blew them up, and have been using them in
addition to calling DPT when needed. Feel free to print and
cut 'em your self.

enjoy,
hitesh

btw: I just helped bust some bike thieves in front of the
Main library. Heads up: skip the cable and chain locks.
U-lock is still better, despite the bad publicity lately.
