2nd Annual San Francisco Juneteenth Parade Promises Unforgettable Celebration of Freedom and Unity

San Francisco, CA – April 9, 2024 – The Dreamkeepers initiative, in partnership with the City of San Francisco, is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 2nd Annual San Francisco Juneteenth Parade, set to take place on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. This year’s parade promises to be a vibrant celebration of freedom, unity, and community resilience, commemorating the historical significance of Juneteenth.

The Juneteenth Parade, sponsored by Dreamkeepers and the City of San Francisco, will kick off at Market Street, featuring captivating floats representing various community organizations, schools, and corporate partners. Led by esteemed dignitaries and community leaders, the parade will traverse through the heart of San Francisco, symbolizing the journey toward equity and justice for all.

Building on decades of neighborhood-based planning and open streets activation, the nonprofit Livable City will be leading event production with Fillmore- and Bayview-based organizers to bring the procession to the city streets.

Highlighting the festivities will be a stellar performance by acclaimed artist Larry June, headlining the musical lineup for the event. Larry June, a beloved figure in the hip-hop community, brings his infectious energy and dynamic stage presence to the Juneteenth Parade, promising an electrifying experience for attendees.

In addition to Larry June, the Juneteenth Parade will showcase performances by an incredible group of artists, including soul singer Goapele, poet and activist Tongo Eisen-Martin, rapper Stunnaman02, and the soulful harmonies of The Glide Choir. San Francisco native Martin Luther, renowned for his work in music and theater, will also be performing, along with hip-hop producer Ronski and more. This diverse lineup guarantees a day filled with electrifying music, thought-provoking poetry, and inspiring performances.

Mayor London Breed, a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusion, expressed her excitement for the upcoming parade, stating, “The Juneteenth Parade is a testament to the resilience and strength of our community. As we come together to celebrate freedom and unity, let us honor the legacy of Juneteenth and continue our commitment to justice and equality for all.”

In addition to the parade, attendees can look forward to a jubilant festival featuring live performances, vendor booths, and a delectable array of food and beverages. This week-long series of events commemorating Juneteenth will serve as a centerpiece for cultural enrichment, education, and celebration.

“We are proud to host the 2nd Annual San Francisco Juneteenth Parade, honoring the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrating the rich tapestry of our community,” said organizers of the event. “Together, let us stand in solidarity as we march forward toward a future of equality, opportunity, and justice for all.”
